Welcome

Welcome to our website!

The Elizabeth Church of Christ continues to reach out locally and globally as a Beacon of Hope to all people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This site has a lot of information about the Christian faith and you are encouraged to look around and explore. We also include updates about what is happening in the life of our church, with links to most of our ministries and usually photos of recent happenings. Our church newsletter the Evangel is available in PDF format.

Experiencing God

Welcome back to Tim and Sarah and family following their break over the school holidays. This morning Tim will commence a series of messages taken from the book named ‘Experiencing God’ by Henry Blackaby and Claude King.

During second term Tim and I will draw on the insights written in that book. The subtitle provides a good summary of the theme; ‘How to live the full adventure of knowing and doing the will of God.’

The book elaborates on seven Biblical principles which we are encouraging everyone to prayerfully consider. These principles are:

  • God is always at work around you.
  • God pursues a continuing loving relationship with you that is real and personal.
  • God invites you to become involved with Him in His work.
  • God speaks by the Holy Spirit through the Bible, prayer, circumstances, and the church to reveal Himself and His purposes.
  • God’s invitation for you to work with Him always leads to a crisis of belief that requires faith and action.
  • You must make major adjustments in your life to join God in what He is doing.
  • You come to know God by experience as you obey Him and He accomplishes His work through you.

We won’t be examining every aspect of the book, but will draw out some valuable lessons for us all here at the Elizabeth Church of Christ as we seek to be a Beacon of hope to the local and global community. (You may like to purchase a copy of the book and work through a study guide we have available.)

Also in this morning’s service there will be a prayer of blessing over the blankets which our church has knitted for those in need, including Teen Challenge.

PM Edition tonight at 5.00p.m. We are showing a DVD message from Louie Giglio entitled “How great is our God”. Louie looks at our universe and how awesome our God is.

As you have heard we have been trialling some after church snacks served in the back hall along with the good coffee being made available. These, plus the monthly church lunches are all intended to encourage you to stay at least a while and get to know others in our church family, deepening relationships and a sense of community amongst us.

Vanua2 to Victor Harbor

May 4, 2008 by Lindsay Mayes

This morning those on the V2 team including myself have travelled to Victor Harbor Church of Christ to share with their congregation and then meet for training in the afternoon. Praise God for the recent generous donations made to purchase the supplies needed for the construction of the classroom. Don’t forget the Garage Sale being held next Saturday, and the Go for Gold Olympics event on May 24th. It was great to hear the baby’s clothes arrived safely in Sri Lanka and were much appreciated by Jessica Smoult.

Search for Life

Please keep praying for the outreach event planned on May 17th for our Seniors, the Seniors Fellowship Lunch, a special occasion to bless the seniors in our church but also a great opportunity to invite guests to hear the Gospel! You can get tickets from the Welcome desk. Our church is hosting this year’s State Convention Ministers Lunch on Friday May 16th, a great opportunity for our facilities to be used in the work of the Kingdom. If you would like to volunteer some help on that day it would be appreciated.
