PRAYER

PRAYER

In Luke 18:1 we read that Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should “always pray and not give up”.

“God calls us to work together with Him for accomplishing His will. The way of working together is prayer. For this reason He wants us to learn in Him what His will is regarding all things so that we can then pray according to His will. True prayer is a real work.” Watchman Nee. Therefore, let us “always pray and not give up”.

Elizabeth Church of Christ offers the following organised prayer times:

  • Following both services there are those who stand ready to pray with anyone who desires prayer

  • Before each service in the meeting room behind the Administrator's office

  • Weekly on Tuesday mornings from 9:30 in the Parent's Room

When there is a need for urgent prayer, the prayer chain is activated.

 A Special Prayer Focus

Nehemiah 1:4-6
4  So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven. 5  And I said: "I pray, LORD God of heaven, O great and awesome God, You who keep Your covenant and mercy with those who love You and observe Your commandments, 6  please let Your ear be attentive and Your eyes open, that You may hear the prayer of Your servant which I pray before You now, day and night, for the children of Israel Your servants......

On February 11th 2019, our church family committed to an intentional prayer focus in our communities.  We believe that intercessory prayer is one of the greatest strengths of believers.  The above passage from Nehemiah shows the heart of one who is broken and interceding on behalf of his people.  We want the heart of Nehemiah,  we desire to become deeply connected to the communities we live and work in.  Currently we have almost 100 people lead of the spirit to become prayer warriors for their specific suburb.  We know our call is  to make a kingdom impact in every sphere of society.  Therefore our heart is to begin with prayer.  We want to hear the heart of God for our  neighbors, our community Centres,  our local businesses, our schools and our own families.  We have a faith that God is not only planning great things for our community, but he is asking us to join him in his wonderful purpose.  It is going to be a great journey as we seek the heart of our God together.

The prayer ministry is coordinated by Margaret Mount and Merrille Hill. Please contact the church office for more information
