In April 2007 thirteen people from the Elizabeth Church of Christ travelled to the island of Tanna in Vanuatu to complete a short term missions’ project. This involved extending and re-cladding the walls of a classroom at a small Christian school at Isla.

We also sent over a variety of educational and practical resources for the school community and shared with the local Lenaei Church of Christ in the evenings. It was an exciting time of learning and experiencing God’s provision and power working amongst us.

Since that time we have sensed God’s call to return to build an additional classroom and do some follow up Bible teaching and training. The leadership of the Elizabeth Church of Christ were delighted when seven people from the Victor Harbour Church of Christ, two people from the Milang Church of Christ and one from the One Tree Hill Uniting Church volunteered to join us. A total of 23 people flew to Vanuatu in July for two weeks to undertake the next project named Vanua2.

It was a wonderful experience where we saw God move mightly amongst us.
The Isla Mission Primary School now has two extra classrooms and a storeroom and the Government Education department, who sent a representative to the official opening ceremony, said they are now willing to begin to invest in helping the school in the future.

The Lenaei Chruch of Christ appreciated a week of teaching from God’s word and the relationships we formed with the local congregation.
Also there was an opportunity to pray with a number of local chiefs in a ceremony of reconciliation to support the growth of the Kingdom of God in that district.

We praise God for all He did amongst us and are now prayerfully considering the next steps.
